French Apple Stores have found themselves at the center of the news, caught between closures announced ahead of the October 24 mobilization and stores hit by looting. The violence also targeted major retail chains, and Decathlon is among the stores most often cited in reports on the unrest.
Fnac appears in the tracking of affected businesses, as do Sephora, Zara and Nike, which were targeted or affected in several cities. H&M stands out in analyses of targeted stores and in recently affected shopping centers, while Louis Vuitton and Galeries Lafayette are also mentioned among the brands attacked. Uniqlo, for its part, is not included in looting reports but remains firmly present in major shopping complexes and French retail rankings.
The retail sector is therefore going through a tense period, with phone, sports, beauty and fashion stores facing the same risk. Brands must now manage the security of their points of sale just as much as their commercial presence.
